What's the deal with the Pomodoro Technique, and how can it help me be more productive?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Ferruccio in the 1980's. It's based on the idea of working in short, focused intervals with regular breaks in between.
Here's how it works:
1. Choose a task you want to accomplish. Make sure it's a specific, tangible thing. No 'be more productive' or 'eat healthier' type goals. You know, like 'write 2000 words for my novel' or 'learn how to play the trombone.'
2. Set a timer for 25 minutes (or whatever works for you)
3. Work on the task without any distractions until the timer goes off. If you get interrupted, just acknowledge it and go back to work when the timer goes off.
4. Take a 5 minute break. Stretch, move your body, get a snack, or do whatever you want. Just don't do anything that'll make you want to work more.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for a certain number of cycles, depending on your goal.
